You can always expect a statement-making collection from Miuccia Prada and Spring 2012 was a statement if ever there was one. It captured all the femininity and sensuality that the brand gives each season and continued to create clever and quirky juxtapositions, in true Prada fashion.
When one thinks about cars, one usually thinks about men’s love for them and women’s love for men who have really nice ones. If you thought Oprah was the only one who gave out cars, then think again: Miuccia will be giving us all cars of our own if we choose to buy pieces from her Spring 2012 collection, with car patches and whimsical flame designs exploding from the backs and heels of footwear (shown above). A car-print bandeau was 50’s chic on Abbey Lee Kershaw and Marihenny Passible rocked a totally covered-up dress with the same print (shown above). That same car motif also showed up on clutches and handbags. I can already see these being “It” accessories for the season.
High-waisted knee-length pleated skirts were the silhouette of the hour, turning the Prada woman into a total lady for Spring. As a curvy woman, pleats can be tricky for me, but the length makes these totally wearable, as well as flattering due to the high rise.
Emily Blunt and Gwyneth Paltrow are both fans and I would love to see Emily in the sophisticated high-waisted silhouettes and Gwyneth in the bandeau tops and pencil skirts.
Overall just a feel-good collection that makes you want to splurge again.
